Bromeliad Cryptanthus ‘Betty’
Cryptanthus ‘Betty’ leaves are deep green with narrow silver bands and silver undersides. Reaches 20” tall and wide at maturity, produces pups at base of plant. It is a hybrid of ‘Icecile’ x ‘Black Mystic,’ cultivated by Jim Irvin, which he named after Betty Ann Prevatt, friend and member of the Bromeliad Society of Fort Myers, Florida. Cryptanthus are commonly referred to as “Earth Stars”. Keep the soil damp at all times. Prefers bright indirect light, will tolerate a bit of early morning or late afternoon direct sun, midday sun can scorch the leaves. Protect from temps below 40F.
